Today was a great day for a ride. Although cold, the sun was out, lots of conversation and everyone was in happy spirits. We took the usual route from the Second Cup coffee shop, home of the East Side Riders and went into the county for a rather long spin. For me, the ride was a hard one and keeping up with the group was a little bit of a challenge. I couldn't believe it when we hit the park in Lakeshore for some off-road riding--my single speed cross and me couldn't handle the snow trails and I had to sit the trail out and wait for the brave souls.
When we finally got to the Belle River area, I was glad to think that we were finally headed home. I was really surprised when we broke into 2 groups with only a small contingent heading home. I stayed with the main group and decided that a little extra ride wouldn't kill me. Well, it certainly felt as though it would. The worst thing was that I started actually pulling at the front and for the life of me, worked as though I was a good rider. We stayed out for roughly 3 hours and I think everyone really worked hard because of the smiling sunshine. Well, I might have fooled some of the riders but I paid for it later that night. I was so sore!
